Attraction to
Abstraction
I gave a talk in the fall called "Forms of Beauty: Creativity and Art at Play." Preparing for it allowed me to discover some things about my creative journey. I took art in high school. We learned basic techniques, drew a still life with miscellaneous objects on a table—bottles, bowls with fruit—sat at a mirror creating a self-portrait with charcoal, experimented with clay, and had a very basic art history course. When we developed our own portfolios, I made a series of line drawings depicting abstract creations.

I've always been drawn to abstract and conceptual art. It is now 20 years after I made that portfolio and I've found myself attracted to "making abstract art" again.

THE GRID
Also during the time I was developing my senior year AP art portfolio, I was applying to college and wanted to go into architecture.
