Erin Dailey
Creator and emerging mixed-media artist
Based in Florence, Alabama

My work applies my architecture education, design experience, and motherhood/parenting journey.
I explore the connection between play, creativity, art, and childhood education and learning materials.
I have a degree in architecture and have worked in the field of design in New York and my home state of Alabama. Four years ago, I decided to stay home with my son after he was born, making motherhood my main focus recently. After observing him make art and build with toy blocks (and playing along too!), I developed a renewed sense of creating.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My approach to art is heavily influenced by my background in architecture and design. My abstract creations are made from my inspirations and experiences—and with much excitement! I consider geometric form, color, and grid structure as the foundational ideas for my work. My mixed-media art combines various upcycled materials, paper, and cardboard. I harness play and fun in my creative pursuits. To me, each piece takes the viewer into an imaginary world. I often see it as a space to experience—but it’s really up to the viewer how they interpret it. That also makes it fun!
